In this series, I (literally) bring light to people I see by experimenting with a specific style of lighting and juxtaposing these portraits with photos of their environments.

Will C: Final 10
My work follows my adventures through nature, utilizing its stunning properties as both a backdrop to fellow inhabitants of earth and as a stand-alone landscape. The inclusion of man-made structures in my images also shows humanity’s near-complete infiltration of the natural.
Griffin: Final 10
These photos are the culmination of an exploration into what it means to be an object. Whether it’s radiating color or strangely shaped, I used my frame to capture the form of everyday objects and turn them into spectacles. I attempted to make Heidegger proud by not letting my understanding of an object to influence the ultimate direction the lens led me, inciting wondrous and potentially off-putting emotions towards the “fly over” objects that go unnoticed in their perpetual shackles of utility.
Final Portfolio
I appropriate the accidental artistic work of humans and nature as my own. Despite the lack of prominent human life, the trace elements of human activity present in the photos remind the viewer that that nature is a medium for manipulation.
Thomas – Final Portfolio
My photography blurs the boundaries of reality and challenges conventional perspectives through the use of lighting, saturation, negative space, and angle. Moreover, the absence of an overarching narrative encourages the viewer to create his/her own by tinkering with the abstract.
Final Portfolio
I connect the abstract vastness of nature with the human figure, both concretely and subtly, to leave the viewer wondering who and where the people are, and what each element (nature or people) adds to the other.
The Stunningly Mundane
Below are my 10 final images and artist statement for the semester.
My subject is the stunningly mundane. I find cracks in reality, revealing the glimpses from untold stories of the curious, leaving behind a hint of the mysterious.
Final Images – Loreen
My work is the artificial of the artificial: through my photos, I strive to recreate from scratch the works of a stereotypical millennial on social media. To emulate their photographic style, I’ve identified and extracted common stylistic elements they utilize and implemented them in my photography: the square crop, enhanced vibrancy, and the choice of mundane objects/food as subject matter.
Jake M Final Images
Suburbia is an intersection between natural and built environments; my collection looks at the artificiality of suburbia and this intersection through color, symmetry and sometimes humor.
Final Images – Matt S
My body of work focuses on an exploration of light and color to produce diverse and vibrant images. The images play with the intersection and overlap between humanity and nature by showcasing the similar aesthetic present in both worlds.
