Attempted deadpan in San Francisco
Thea March 9th
Instead of playing with deadpan*, I played around with a different kind of style while I was walking through a neighborhood I usually drive through, SF’s Haight District. For the first half of the trip, I focused mainly on observing from a new perspective, trying to capture the kinds of things that I wouldn’t see from inside the car.
For the second half, I went back to my safe zone, portraits, and also walked through a different part of the city. I’m trying to expand my style and I was in two new places, one of which I had never walked through before, and one of which I just don’t get to spend enough time in. This gave the setting extra importance, so I began to play around with background and foreground.
*Were we supposed to play with deadpan or no? I got slightly confused?
Deadpan
Turns out I am bad at deadpan. Nevertheless, a nighttime stroll to plot out a route, followed by a speedy retracement of steps, produced the following pics. Look at your own risk. Last 3 pics are bonus. Shameless plug for Poke.

I took a walk in my neighborhood trying to take interesting photos of ordinary scenes.

What if we made the non-scientifically inclined… science? Ina Random Assignment 3
Deadpan – Behavioral Patterns of Waterfowl After Water Consumption
I conducted a highly scientific experiment. I documented the behavior of waterfowl (geese and ducks) after they had consumed food and water. I found that they seemed much more energetic and lively than waterfowl that had consumed no food or water.

Matt S – Deadpan
I decided to pursue prompt 1. In my “science experiment,” I compare and contrast the interaction between water droplets and various substrates. In doing so, I seek to answer the question that has stumped scientists for hundreds of years: what makes water wet?
