For this assignment, I decided to explore “artificiality.” I was inspired to pursue this topic given our increased dependency on technology, thus, our increased susceptibility to the mindless intake of media and corporate tactics. Too often we are bombarded with sensationalist advertisements, cover stories, and other forms of entertainment that promote an unhealthy lifestyle — something about them feels “unreal.” I wanted to capture this feeling through my photography. Three themes that I particularly focused on include: relationships, emulation, and balance.
